Facsimile of a Divan Containing Over 10,000 Verses to Be Prepared
The Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is planning the implementation of another important scientific and media project — “Writers of the Amir Umar Khan Era,” as well as the preparation of a facsimile edition of his divan.
Amir Umar Khan was not only the Khan of Kokand, but also a poet. He considered such outstanding poets as Lutfi, Jami, Navoi, Fizuli, and Bedil to be his mentors, studied the secrets of their craft, followed their styles, and composed mukhammases based on their ghazals. All of his poems, written in light and melodious aruz meters — popular both in Turkic literature and folk art — are dedicated to the theme of love. He compiled his poems in Uzbek and Persian-Tajik languages into a divan that includes over 10,000 verses in the genres of ghazal, mukhammmas, musaddas, and tuyuq. A deep study of his creative legacy is essential not only for restoring historical truth but also for elevating the spiritual life of today's society.
As part of this media project, writers who lived and worked during the reign of Amir Umar Khan (1787–1822), their scholarly and spiritual activities, works, and historical significance will be thoroughly studied. Special attention will be given to written sources from that period, historical documents, manuscripts, and other evidential materials. As a result, scholarly studies will be produced, which will enrich the exhibition of the Center for Islamic Civilization.
In addition, the project will include the creation of multimedia content — video clips, articles, infographics, and special materials for social media. This will provide the general public, especially the younger generation, with a closer look at the literary atmosphere of the Amir Umar Khan era.
