From Japanese Museums to the Louvre – Our History Is Being Brought Back Home!

For the first time in the history of Uzbekistan, a unique international initiative is being implemented. As part of the “Pre-Islamic Civilizations” project carried out by the Center of Islamic Civilization, there are plans to bring back original artifacts currently preserved in museums around the world.

Many of these items, housed in museums from Japan to the famous Louvre in Paris, are directly connected to the civilizations of our region. Therefore, an initiative has been launched to restore this history and return these cultural treasures to Uzbekistan.

An important aspect of the project is that the artifacts will not only be displayed, but also presented to a wide audience through in-depth scientific research, educational programs, and cultural events. Each item embodies history, thought, culture, and belief. Now, these treasures will shine once again in their homeland — Central Asia.

For reference, in order to enrich the exhibition of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, 9 areas have been covered, with 5 exhibition halls to be filled with unique artifacts. Currently, all projects are in their first phase, and the completion of the museum exhibition is planned by September of this year.
