Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan

A reception ceremony was held in Tashkent in honor of Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs. As part of his official visit to Uzbekistan, the guest closely acquainted with the activities, missions, and exhibitions of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative and idea of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Mr. Wang Yi, in particular, became closely familiar with the compositions dedicated to scholars and historical figures located under the 14 arches in the Center’s foyer. In the scientific section of the exhibition, high praise was given by Wang Yi to the information about the contributions of thinkers such as Al-Khwarizmi, Ahmad Fergani, Biruni, and Ibn Sina to world civilization, in particular the work “Al-Jabr wa al-Muqabala,” the emergence of the concept of algorithms, and the history of the formation of Latin numerals.

The high-ranking guest carefully reviewed with great interest the materials presented in the pre-Islamic period exhibition on ancient civilizations such as Bactria, Sogdiana, Khorezm, and Kushan, their scientific and cultural ties with China, and the history of the Silk Road. The information that Fergana horses, alfalfa seeds, and grapevines were taken to China as an early stage of long-standing historical cooperation left a particularly strong impression on the guest.
