“Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiative is an exemplary model on the international stage” – sincere remarks of a UN Expert

Within the framework of the monitoring processes carried out under the second cycle of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), as well as experts from the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Maldives, visited the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan during their visit to the country.
During the visit, the guests familiarized themselves with the Center’s exhibitions, displays organized on the basis of modern technologies, as well as unique sources covering various periods and stages of development in the history of Uzbekistan. The Head of the Department of the Bureau of Public Administration and Anti-Corruption Reforms of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Jane Onwumere Onyemowo, sharing her impressions of the visit, especially emphasized the scientific and educational significance of the Center:

“This visit to the Center was extremely informative for us. The building itself is beautiful, modern, and has a unique spirit. Many periods and stages of development in the history of Uzbekistan are presented in a very impressive way. The Center not only highlights the past, but also reveals the picture of development up to present-day Uzbekistan.”
According to her, one of the most striking aspects of the Center is that it reflects not only the past, but also Uzbekistan’s future plans, strategic directions, and opportunities for international cooperation.
“Here, along with the history of Islam, the rich culture, lifestyle, and spiritual heritage of the Uzbek people are also uniquely reflected. During this visit, I gained a great deal of new information, and I definitely want to take some ideas back to my country, Nigeria, and share them with people,” she said.
Ms. Onwumere also acknowledged the Center’s contribution to intercultural dialogue in her remarks:
“I am not Muslim by faith, but through this visit I began to understand Islam more deeply. This Center serves to strengthen mutual respect among people.”
She also noted that this scientific and educational complex, built on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, has become an important project not only for the country, but for the entire region and the world:
“The Center has truly been built to a very high standard. I sincerely congratulate the President of Uzbekistan and the entire people who supported this project. This initiative can serve as an example for the whole world.”

During the visit, the guests closely familiarized themselves with the Center’s modern exhibitions, 3D visuals, interactive projects, and rare manuscripts belonging to the Islamic world.
