Do you want to know about the place that holds the greatest legacy of human civilization, the sacred home of human memory and dreams, where the words of the past, the thoughts of today, and the hopes of the future live; a treasure of world wisdom and human thought, a place that gives every person the chance to grasp a thousand years of experience in a single moment?
What is the source that takes a person beyond the narrow circle of life and teaches them to look at the whole world? Of course, it is books. Through them, we communicate with great figures of the past and become acquainted with different nations and cultures. This liberates the human spirit and enriches the heart. Thus, the place that frees the human soul is the library.
The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is expected to become one of such places. This library can accommodate 300 readers at the same time and has the capacity to collect nearly 50,000 manuscripts and works.
The main open fund of the library can house 56,300 published editions, which include:
✔️ Eastern and Western collections
✔️ Literature on scientific fields
✔️ Publications in Braille
✔️ Religion and religious studies
✔️ Reference publications
✔️ Children’s literature
✔️ Book albums
✔️ Literature on the museum directions of the Center (Pre-Islamic period, First and Second Renaissances, New Uzbekistan).
It should be noted separately that our compatriot, one of the world’s billionaires, Alisher Usmanov, donated a rare collection of 4,918 titles of books worth 8 million US dollars to the Center’s library.
The library consists of reading zones, a media area, a space for scholars, a relaxation area, zones for independent work, separate areas for people with disabilities, an electronic library, a children’s room, copying services for researchers, and a green space.

A model of unity and responsibility
According to Ravshan Qodirov, head of the library department of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan:
“In this place of great spiritual and scientific importance, librarians are working actively with solidarity and responsibility in the process of arranging and systematizing books. Thanks to unity, even small technical issues could not become an obstacle for us on the contrary, they strengthened our togetherness and gave us more energy to move forward. Where there is love for knowledge and enlightenment, the path to progress is opened. This library is destined to become a source of pride and spiritual wealth for all of us in the near future”.
Indeed, today it is not only books that are being placed here but knowledge, experience, and responsibility are also being harmonized in one space.

When librarians unite, we can move, separate, arrange, and adorn any great ‘treasure’ (collection)!” said Umida Teshaboyeva, Director of the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan.
These words reflect not only dedication but also selflessness, heartfelt love for the profession, and a deep sense of responsibility. Indeed, for librarians, a book collection is not just a physical asset but a spiritual wealth the treasure of the people.
The Center of Islamic Civilization is a great place that gathers not only Islamic heritage but also universal knowledge and spirituality.
