The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is preparing sensational exhibitions to promote the national spiritual heritage and bring it to the wider public.

Within the framework of efforts carried out at the Center to promote and convey the national spiritual heritage, discussions were held on forming an exhibition dedicated to the activities of the Babakhanov family of muftis, who preserved the religious values of the Uzbek people even under the harsh persecutions of the Soviet era. The meeting was attended by the Center’s staff as well as representatives of the Babakhanov Muftis Foundation.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached on the main directions of the exhibition. In particular, it was decided to include the following exhibits related to the Babakhanov family:

▪️ a special touch-panel decorated with national ornaments and historical information;
▪️ manuscripts and historical documents belonging to the family;
▪️ orders and medals awarded to Mufti Ziyovuddin-khan Babakhan and members of the dynasty, including the Imam al-Bukhari Order, international awards, and prizes;

▪️ a complete genealogy of the Babakhanov family.

According to Jamoliddin Babakhanov, director of the Babakhanov Muftis Foundation, the exhibition is aimed not only at showcasing the family’s activities but also at highlighting important religious and spiritual processes in Uzbekistan’s history. He emphasized that the exhibition will reflect the history of the formation of the religious administration, the establishment of the Mir Arab madrasa and the Islamic Institute, as well as information about the international relations established by the Babakhanov family with various countries.

“This exhibition being prepared at the Center will serve as a rich source of information for our people and for guests visiting our country. At the same time, we have also made our suggestions in this process and are ready to present many historical documents, medals, and the genealogy. Each of these will take its rightful place,” he said.

It should be noted that the late Mufti Ziyovuddin-khan Babakhan made great contributions to the development of religious and spiritual life even during the era dominated by atheistic ideology. Our esteemed President highly valued his services, acknowledged them in several speeches, and awarded him with the Imam al-Bukhari Order. In addition, members of the family have been honored with high-level awards from countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, and Morocco, as well as the “Ibn Sina” Medal and the “Order of Friendship of Peoples”.

At the meeting, the overall design of the exhibition, information materials, and technical solutions were also discussed. The prepared models were approved by the officials of the Center of Islamic Civilization. The project is expected to be implemented in the coming days and presented to the public.
