A model of the Shaybani Khan Madrasah is being reconstructed

A new significant scientific and practical project has been launched in Uzbekistan to revive the forgotten pages of Islamic culture and architecture  a reconstruction of the Shaybani Khan Madrasah model is planned based on historical sources.

This madrasah was originally built in the 16th century during the Shaybanid dynasty. At the time, it served not only as a center for religious education but also contributed to the development of culture and science. Unfortunately, the original architectural structure was lost over time. However, historical records, architectural documents, and archaeological findings have shown that its reconstruction is indeed possible.

The model is being developed through the collaboration of the Center of Islamic Civilization, experts in architecture and history, as well as academic institutions specializing in Oriental studies and archaeology. The goal is to restore historical justice, enrich the nation’s spiritual memory, and reconnect the public with the great scientific and architectural heritage of the past.

The model under preparation is not only of aesthetic and exhibition value but also serves an educational purpose through it, young people will gain visual and practical insights into 16th-century madrasah architecture, the scientific environment of the Shaybanid era, and the role of Islamic civilization in Central Asia.

Once completed, the model will be permanently exhibited at the Center of Islamic Civilization and made accessible to the public.
