Ancient manuscripts from Egypt to be exhibited in Uzbekistan

An online meeting was held between Dr. Kamola Akilova — Director of the Uzbekistan gallery of fine arts, chief curator of the Global exhibition being organized at the Center of Islamic Civilization, Doctor of art studies, and academician and Dr. Howayda Kamel, Advisor to the Director of the national library and archives of Egypt and head of the Bab al-Khalq library.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Egyptian side was officially invited to the opening ceremony of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.
The parties discussed the possibility of exhibiting ancient manuscripts from the collection of the National Library and Archives of Egypt as part of the “Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan — heritage of all humanity” exhibition, which will be held in conjunction with the Center’s opening.
While acknowledging the friendly relations between Egypt and Uzbekistan, Dr. Howayda Kamel confirmed that the national library and archives of Egypt is interested in showcasing its collections in Tashkent.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to jointly study ancient manuscripts related to the legacy of great ancestors such as al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, al-Farghani, al-Marghinani, and Alisher Navoi.
