Tashkent is preparing for a global exhibition
The world’s museums are coming together in Uzbekistan. A global exhibition titled “Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage – the property of all humanity” is planned to be held in Tashkent.
It was announced at the latest meeting of the Scientific council of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan that nearly 50 museums and libraries from around the world are expected to participate in this prestigious event.
The list of almost 1,000 unique exhibits manuscripts, historical documents, works, and artifacts – is being compiled with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, and Uzbekistan’s embassies abroad. Internationally renowned museums and foundations are being engaged as partners in this process.
Kamola Akilova, director of the Uzbekistan Gallery of Fine Arts and academician, noted:
“Many museums and libraries around the world have gladly accepted the invitation to take part in the Uzbekistan’s Cultural Heritage – The Property of All Humanity exhibition. Among them are Malaysia’s Islamic Arts Museum, the Al-Sabah Foundation, museums from France, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, as well as Turkey’s Topkapi Palace, Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, and the Süleymaniye Library. These institutions have expressed their intention to participate with their exhibits”.
The exhibition will feature works related to great scholars such as Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, Ibn Sina (Avicenna), Mirzo Ulughbek, Alisher Navoi, and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, as well as historical Qur’an manuscripts. Facsimile editions of nearly 200 manuscripts preserved abroad will also be presented.
In addition, replicas of 61 important exhibits have been prepared, with detailed technical requirements, insurance documentation, and display specifications ensuring their safe transportation, preservation, and exhibition.
Leaders of foreign museums emphasized that during the transportation and return process, utmost care must be taken to prevent any damage to these rare artifacts.
Representatives of Bek Broker, the company responsible for transporting exhibits for the global exhibition, stressed that every detail is being considered including the antiquity, fragility, size, and weight of the artifacts.
