Uzbekistan - United Kingdom: dialogue on cooperation with the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies
At the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (United Kingdom) is expected to begin operations on the second floor of the building of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Oxford Centre’s activity.
At the latest meeting of the Expanded Scientific council of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, a dialogue was held via Zoom with Dr. Farhan Nizami, Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.
At the beginning of the meeting, Firdavs Abduhalikov, director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, congratulated Dr. Farhan Nizami and his team on the 40th anniversary of the Oxford Centre’s activity, stating:
“On the initiative of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, space on the second floor of the building of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan has been allocated for international partner organizations, including the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. In this regard, we look forward to welcoming you and your team at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. Your visit will open even greater opportunities for our future joint cooperation”, said director F. Abduhalikov.
During the meeting, Bahrom Abduhalimov and senior researcher of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, Zohidulla Munavvarov, also expressed their satisfaction with the expected cooperation.
It should be recalled that last December, joint cooperation was launched between the two Centers on the section of the Atlas of Islamic Social and Intellectual History relating to Central Asia. The project is led by senior researcher Zohidulla Munavvarov, and it was announced that a working visit to London will soon take place in connection with this project.
At the conclusion of the dialogue, Dr. Farhan Nizami, Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, expressed his delight at the cooperation being established and the invitation to Uzbekistan.
