The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is planning, for the first time, to produce short films about Bronze Age monuments, Zoroastrian teachings, findings from Paykent, and ancient states for the “Pre-Islamic Civilizations” exhibition. Their scripts are being developed in collaboration with historians and archaeologists.
To enrich this exhibition, a meeting was held with representatives of film studios and media production organizations. Members of the Center’s working group and field specialists also participated.
At the meeting, the conceptual content, scripts, and technical requirements of the video clips and short films were discussed. It was emphasized that historians, archaeologists, and art historians would be engaged as consultants in the production process.
The project envisions the creation of video products on a wide range of topics, including the statehood of Khorezm, ancient Sogd, Greco-Bactrian and Kushan civilizations, Ancient Chach, and Bronze Age monuments such as the Jarkutan settlements.
In addition, films will be produced about the history of Paykent city, the results of archaeological excavations carried out there, the social role of Zoroastrianism, as well as the development of written culture, crafts, and visual arts.
By the end of the meeting, it was agreed that the script of each film would first be reviewed and approved by leading scholars historians, archaeologists, and art historians after which the films would be produced based on these validated scripts.
This initiative represents an important step toward presenting the cultural heritage of the pre-Islamic era on a scholarly basis, making it accessible to the wider public in a visual format, and showcasing Uzbekistan’s rich civilizational history on an international scale.
