A glance at the scholarly legacy of Sayfi Sarayi
The media project “The scholarly legacy of Sayfi Saroyi”, initiated by the Center of Islamic Civilization, is dedicated to studying and promoting the rich scholarly and literary activities of Sayfi Saroyi, a distinguished figure who holds an important place in Uzbek literature and history.
Sayfi Saroyi, who lived and created in the 14th century, was among the first representatives of the Turkic art of translation. He translated the famous work Gulistan by the Persian poet Saadi into Uzbek under the title Gulistan bi-t-Turkiy. This work is of great significance not only from a literary standpoint but also from linguistic and educational perspectives. In it, Sayfi Saroyi expressed the socio-spiritual issues of his era in the Turkic language, thereby serving the moral development of the people.
Within the framework of the media project, video materials, articles, and graphic content are being prepared based on scholarly analyses about Sayfi Saroyi’s life and creativity, the ideological and aesthetic views in his works, and his role in Islamic civilization.
The main goal of the project is to present the spiritual heritage left by our great ancestors to the wider public through a modern interpretation, thereby contributing to the building of a society founded on knowledge and enlightenment.
Studying the legacy of Sayfi Saroyi is not only a look into the past but also a pathway to the future, for he was one of the earliest intellectuals who demonstrated, through translation, the immense importance of conveying knowledge, morality, and ethics to the people.
