The Magnificent Robe of Bibi Khanum Presented in France Will Be Part of the IAC Exhibition
At the Islamic Civilization Center of Uzbekistan, a discussion was held on the design of the exhibition walls and the interior layout with the participation of Emmanuel Brelot, a representative of Wilmotte & Associés, as well as the Center’s staff, art historians, historians, and manuscript experts.
It is planned that the building of the Center will meet modern standards. Not only the exterior but also the interior is intended to comply with international benchmarks.
During his presentation, Emmanuel Brelot from Wilmotte & Associés spoke about the architecture of the Center and the oriental decorative patterns that will be featured on the walls:
— Based on suggestions from local Uzbek scholars, the exhibition walls will display images of historical monuments and ancient murals, such as those from the Varakhsha site. On the "smart" walls, a map of the Great Silk Road will be displayed. These are not just ordinary walls — they will embody a wealth of knowledge. Visitors to the Center will have the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Uzbekistan directly from these walls. The building's façades will change depending on the time of day, and the lighting in the halls, both large and small, will be adapted accordingly.
Also participating in the meeting was Professor Kholida Komilova, Doctor of Technical Sciences and representative of the international fashion community, who emphasized the importance of reflecting national costumes and their historical appearance in the exhibition:
— When we speak of the Great Silk Road, it's impossible to imagine the exhibition without textiles and silk products. In our country, even in the pre-Islamic period, cotton, silk, and wool were used to produce clothing. We aim to integrate these elements harmoniously into the exhibition. Another new development — together with my students, we recently recreated the robe of Bibi Khanum based on the writings of the traveler Clavijo. When we presented this robe in France, it was received with great interest and admiration by the public. We want to include this robe in the exhibition as well.
