An interactive exposition of the “First Renaissance” period is being prepared in Uzbekistan
At the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, work is underway on the “First Renaissance Period” section, preparing an exposition consisting of seven thematic capsules that will encompass the achievements in statehood, science, culture, and the legacy of great scholars from the 9th–12th centuries. According to specialists, through this exposition the national renaissance era will be rediscovered. In cooperation with Italy’s design company Magister art, the exposition is expected to reach the level of advanced international museum practice by incorporating animated portrayals of scholars, artificial intelligence, multimedia content, international exhibits, and an aesthetically rich environment.
The creation of the “First Renaissance Period” exposition has now entered a new stage. A follow-up online discussion was held to enhance the exposition conceptually and technologically, with the participation of the Center’s scholars, working group members, and experts from Magister art.
During the talks, the concept of the exposition made up of seven thematic capsules covering the achievements in governance, science, culture, and scholarship of the early renaissance era was discussed. It was emphasized that each capsule will be presented using modern technologies such as immersive shows, models, and interactive displays.
Innovation and aesthetics in harmony
Dr. Surayo Karimova, Professor of History, noted that reviving the images of “First Renaissance” scholars through artificial intelligence and visual effects is significant not only from an innovative perspective but also aesthetically:
“In this way, the viewer is transformed from a mere spectator into an engaged participant who feels and reflects. Columns decorated with calligraphic inscriptions will serve as key elements in recreating the spirit of the historical environment”, said Professor Karimova.
Within the exposition, animated video clips about each scholar will also be produced, and their scientific legacy will be presented in an interactive format.
Educational solutions and technological innovations
According to Dr. Fakhriddin Karimov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, arranging the exhibits systematically by themes and periods turns the exposition into a cohesive historical lesson.
“The animated images of scholars and the accompanying animations serve to convey complex ideas to the younger generation in a simple and impactful way”, said F. Karimov.
During the meeting, special attention was also given to expanding visitors’ opportunities for independent exploration through interactive maps, touchscreens, and multifunctional displays.
Associate Professor Ibrohim Usmonov expressed his view on this matter:
“Each touchscreen invites the visitor to engage in dialogue with the past. Accurately prepared models ensure the reliability of the exposition”.
International cooperation and a new stage
Collaboration with Magister art has made it possible to reach concrete agreements on concept, design, and technological solutions. In particular, the exposition incorporating animated portrayals of scholars, artificial intelligence, multimedia content, international exhibits, and an aesthetic environment is expected to rise to the level of advanced practices in international museology.
It is also planned to prepare models of scientific instruments reflecting the scholarly activities of great figures such as al-Biruni. This will enrich the exposition not only visually but also educationally.
Becoming a symbol of national renaissance
The “First Renaissance” section will not only bring Uzbekistan’s scientific and spiritual heritage to a wide audience but will also showcase it on the international stage, highlighting the harmony of history and technology. Through this exposition, the era of national renaissance will be rediscovered, strengthening the feelings of pride and respect in the hearts of the younger generation.
In the future, such projects are intended to continue consistently, with the ultimate goal of transforming the Center of Islamic Civilization into a global scientific and educational institution.
