Through his discoveries, Ulugh Beg Mirzo opened the way to Europe
During the Timurid era, under the leadership of Ulugh Beg Mirzo, science, astronomy, and the natural sciences reached a new stage of development. The discoveries made at his academy spread to Istanbul through Ali Qushchi, and from there to Europe, forming a foundation for the Renaissance movement. Today, at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, this heritage is planned to be fully represented and conveyed to the public through historical exhibitions and short films.
Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Bakhtiyor Turaev, in discussing the achievements of Turan civilization during the Second Renaissance, described this period as a spiritual and scientific revival extending from the Timurids to the era of the khanates.
“The era of Ulugh Beg was one of peace and dedication to science, with wars diminished and knowledge taking the lead. Astronomical instruments, star charts, Zijes, and sources in the natural sciences are not only valuable for history but also serve as guiding stars for the present day. Therefore, it is planned that these achievements will be displayed in the exhibitions of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan through comprehensive showcases and visual materials”, said B. Turaev.
As part of this initiative, models of objects from the Timurid era that no longer exist but are preserved in historical sources are also being reconstructed. Among them are monuments such as the mausoleum of Sheikh Nuriddin Basr in Samarkand. The musical instruments, performance traditions, and spiritual heritage of that time will also be given special attention.
