Each architectural ornament reflects the evolution of its era
In Uzbekistan, there are more than 8,000 cultural heritage sites, of which at least 2,500 are architectural monuments. Their value is defined by the majolica on the walls, the ornaments on the portals, and the majestic domes. Each decoration is unique in terms of composition, construction, and artistic solutions. Within every form, diverse styles live on.
According to Professor Zuhra Dо‘stmetova of the Kamoliddin Behzod National Institute of Art, most often the focus is on the overall structure of the site. However, what makes it unique what becomes its heart are precisely its decorations.
In ancient times, craftsmen infused even simple materials such as clay with artistic spirit, a skill that must also be reflected in today’s museum models. Mastery that began with clay eventually grew into architectural boldness. Therefore, every decoration requires not only an aesthetic approach but also historical and scientific consideration, the professor explains.
The exhibitions of the Second Renaissance period at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan are not merely displays, but a rebirth of history. In them, every decoration has its own place and its own language.
