Unique models are being prepared for the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan

Exact replicas of the decorations of architectural monuments such as Gur-e Amir, Shah-i Zinda, and Tilla-Kari in Samarkand, as well as unique items like glazed ceramic dishes, will be featured in the exhibition “The Second Renaissance: The Timurid Era”.

At the state museum of Timurid history, project leaders, scholars, specialists, craftsmen producing models and replicas, as well as artisans creating musical instruments and maps, held discussions on several issues. They exchanged views on the mock-ups, replicas, and 3D models being prepared for the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, along with their precise dimensions.

According to Akmal Ulmasov, senior researcher at the Institute of Art Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture, replicas are being prepared not only of artifacts preserved in local collections but also of rare items housed in foreign museums.

Many of the exhibits have also been acquired through international auctions. Together with our team, we are producing models of several historical monuments related to the Second Renaissance, — said Ulmasov.

During the meeting, scholars discussed the dimensions, forms, and quality of each exhibit. This process is of great importance for ensuring the scientific accuracy and aesthetic value of the replicas and mock-ups being created.
