Lutfi’s literary heritage to be promoted

Among the exhibitions being prepared by the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, a special media project dedicated to the literary heritage of Lutfi holds a prominent place.

Lutfi was one of the major figures of 15th-century Uzbek literature, creating outstanding examples in the classical ghazal and masnavi genres. His artistic style, lyrical depth, and spiritual worldview occupy a worthy place in the Uzbek literary heritage.

According to researcher E. Ahmadkhojaev, the total volume of surviving poems attributed to Lutfi amounts to over 2,774 couplets, or 5,548 lines, the majority of which (2,086 couplets) are written in the ghazal genre. Thirty-three manuscript copies of Mawlono Lutfi’s Turkic divan, transcribed between the 16th and 20th centuries, have survived and are preserved in libraries and manuscript collections in Tashkent, Dushanbe, Istanbul, Tehran, London, Paris, and St. Petersburg. In addition, dozens of rare copies of Lutfi’s divan are kept in the collections of the Institute of Oriental Studies and the Institute of Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the media project, Lutfi’s life and work will be presented to a wide audience through modern visual solutions, multimedia, and interactive formats. This will provide an opportunity not only for young people but also for literature and culture enthusiasts to rediscover this ancient heritage.
