“This is not a museum, this is a scientific center — true history!”

“The model of the Oqsaroy complex to be presented in the museum exhibition of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, along with its preserved portal and decorations, still conveys the breath of great history”, says Doctor of Architecture and Professor Abdumannop Ziyaev, commenting on the ongoing work of the Center.

At the State Museum of the History of the Timurids in Tashkent, a regular discussion meeting was held with the participation of historians, architects, and designers to address the enrichment of the museum exhibition at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the creation process of the Second Renaissance exhibition was discussed, in particular such important matters as placing models with precise measurements, using video materials, and ensuring harmony between the exterior and interior design.

According to Professor Ziyaev, the main task at this stage of shaping the exhibition’s content is to scientifically reconstruct the historical scene.

“The model of the Oqsaroy complex to be displayed in the exhibition, along with its preserved portal and decorations, still allows one to feel the breath of great history”, says Professor Ziyaev. “This structure is unparalleled from both a technical and historical perspective. Even though only part of it has survived to this day, the fact that it continues to attract the attention of tourists shows its high value. Amir Temur adhered to typological laws in urban planning for example, the positions of fortresses and gates were determined on the basis of precise calculations. Our goal is to express this high architectural taste and engineering mastery in the exhibition on a solid scholarly and practical basis”.

The meeting emphasized that through the exhibitions being developed at the Center of Islamic Civilization, not only tangible heritage but also traditions of urban planning, engineering, irrigation, and architecture are being revived with the help of modern technologies. Every detail is shaped according to a carefully considered concept.

While the technical proposals presented by foreign designers are being supported, local experts play a decisive role in deeply sensing the historical heritage and infusing the exhibition with a national spirit. As a result of this cooperation, a natural harmony is being created between the exterior and interior appearance of the buildings.
