Books preserved in the world’s golden fund can now be held and read by everyone
In the “First Renaissance Period” section of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, replicas of rare books preserved in the world’s leading libraries as exhibits will be displayed. Most notably, books that could previously only be seen through display cases open to a single page can now be held by hand and read page by page.
To further enrich and refine the exhibition of this mega project, a special working group has been formed. The Italian company “Magistr Art” and the working team of the “First Renaissance Period” section are actively collaborating on the exhibition’s design.
At present, the overall design of the section has been approved, and the selection of exhibits to be displayed is currently underway. During today’s discussion, many important issues were thoroughly considered, including how and in what form the books will be presented. It is planned to exhibit them as originals, facsimiles, multimedia, and under-glass displays.
Among the proposals, the idea of creating affordable copies of books from the global golden fund of this era and making them freely accessible for public reading in a special corner of the exhibition was particularly noted. This will undoubtedly delight book enthusiasts.
Additionally, the exhibition will feature models of the tombstones of Qusam ibn Abbas and Abu Hafs Kabir.
For reference, the “First Renaissance Period” section includes major exhibition elements such as the “Wall of Discoveries”, seven thematic capsules, architectural and historical models.
