ICESCO Director General: “It is advisable to apply Uzbekistan’s experience in other Islamic countries as well”
An online meeting was held between Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), and Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. During the discussion, preparations for the opening ceremony of the Center of Islamic Civilization in cooperation with ICESCO, as well as the organization of an international conference dedicated to the life and legacy of Imam Bukhari, were addressed.
Additionally, proposals were made to ensure the high-level organization of the opening ceremonies of the major national project in Uzbekistan and the innovative Imam Bukhari Museum, with the participation of leaders of the largest organizations, educational and research centers in the Islamic world, as well as leading scholars and experts.
It is worth noting that earlier this year, during his visit to Tashkent, Dr. Salim M. AlMalik became acquainted with the construction of the Center of Islamic Civilization and its projects:
“During my visit to Uzbekistan, I witnessed firsthand the great attention being paid to the preservation and promotion of Islamic heritage under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It is advisable to apply this experience in other Islamic countries as well. At the major forum to be held in Uzbekistan, we intend to highlight the achievements made in recent years in studying the legacy of the great scholar Imam Bukhari, who was born in your country”, said the ICESCO Director General.
During his visit to Uzbekistan in May, Dr. Salim M. AlMalik familiarized himself with the newly constructed Imam Bukhari complex, initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the innovative museum being built on the complex grounds. On that occasion, he also proposed a number of initiatives, including inviting Sheikh Nasser Al-Zahrani, known for his work in hadith sciences and the study and promotion of Imam Bukhari’s legacy, to Uzbekistan.
