An online dialogue was held between the Center of Islamic Civilization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
An online dialogue was held with the participation of the leadership of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The agenda focused particularly on the implementation of the tasks outlined in Protocol No. 26 of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 14, 2025.
The meeting also featured extensive discussions on ensuring international support and coordination for the activities of the Center of Islamic Civilization, current tasks, long-term goals, and international cooperation. Participants exchanged views on the draft of a three-year strategic program planned for 2025–2028. The program includes identifying foreign partners, compiling a registry, and strengthening cooperation with international organizations, including UNESCO.
One of the top priorities of the program is locating, digitizing, and repatriating historical sources, manuscripts, and artifacts related to Uzbekistan’s history that are preserved in foreign museums, libraries, and research centers.
Specific proposals were also made to enrich the Center’s content on a scientific and innovative basis, implement international research projects, and organize joint films, exhibitions, and forums.
Plans were set forth to organize press tours, media events, and forums to introduce the Center’s activities to the global community. In particular, more than 40 representatives of prestigious international museums are expected to attend the Center’s opening ceremony.
The meeting also discussed the plan to bring 114 rare copies of the Qur’an to Uzbekistan for exhibition and to implement the “New Uzbekistan Qur’an” project. Additionally, the possibility of hosting the 9th International Congress titled “Heritage of Great Ancestors – Foundation of an Enlightened Future” at the Center and allocating office space for international organizations within the building was reviewed.
During the meeting, the Director of the Center emphasized that the Center of Islamic Civilization, established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, should become not only a national but also an internationally significant scientific and educational institution. Considering the short time remaining before the official opening of the Center, he stressed the importance of carrying out the upcoming responsibilities with a systematic and effective approach.
— We must address the issue of bringing the 114 facsimile copies of the Qur’an identified in foreign countries to our homeland and displaying them in the Center's exhibition, as well as continuing this process consistently. In addition, the implementation of the "New Uzbekistan Qur’an" project must also be considered. We plan to prepare this rare edition with the involvement of experienced calligraphers from both Uzbekistan and abroad. Furthermore, we need to establish concrete plans for organizing the 9th International Congress titled “Heritage of Great Ancestors – Foundation of an Enlightened Future” directly at the Center, and for exploring the possibility of housing permanent offices of international organizations on the second floor of the building, — said Firdavs Abdukhalikov.
At the end of the dialogue, proposals were also made to organize special media tours for foreign mass media and to prepare exhibitions in the Center’s museum dedicated to the countries of Central Asia.
