The expedition to Akhsikent, the Damascus Sword, and new media projects: the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Center of Islamic Civilization continues

The Scientific Council's regular meeting is taking place at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. The council members are participating both in person and online.

First, Dr. Miliana Radivojević, a research fellow at the Archaeological Department of the Royal College of London, presented the results of archaeological research conducted in the Akhsikent area of the Namangan region. Dr. Radivojević has been actively involved in archaeological studies conducted in our country for many years.

Council members presented a list of foreign guests who will attend major conferences.

"Akhsikent is one of the oldest metallurgical centers in the world. Together with our partners from Uzbekistan, Cyprus, and the United Kingdom, we have discovered that metallurgy in Akhsikent was highly advanced as early as the early Middle Ages. Specifically, we have proven that the famous Damascus swords, which began to be produced at the onset of the Islamic era, used steel that was extracted and processed in Akhsikent. If everything goes according to plan, we will present this historical event as a separate media project at the opening ceremony of the Center," said Miliana Radivojević.

Ekaterina Soboleva, a specialist in the International Relations Department of the Center of Islamic Civilization, presented to the Council members the concept for the grand opening ceremony of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. During the presentation, the events included in the opening program were discussed, as well as the agenda for the Ninth Congress on the theme "The Eternal Legacy of the Past — The Foundation of a Great Future," along with other related issues.

In addition, the agenda included a discussion on the creation of a scientific and practical base for dual-type media projects for the Center's exhibition. On a number of other issues, Council members shared their opinions and suggestions.
