Hadith Schools of Maverannahr — Now on an Interactive Map!
The Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is planning to implement a project dedicated to the history of hadith schools in Mawarannahr. As part of this initiative, an interactive map will showcase the hadith schools that developed in prominent centers of Islamic scholarship such as Shash, Kesh, Termez, Bukhara, and Samarkand. The map will be presented to the public as part of the museum exhibition at the Center.
As part of the project, the history of each hadith school’s formation, the work of prominent muhaddiths, scholarly traditions, key writings, and methods of hadith transmission have been thoroughly analyzed. The map also features information on the lives and intellectual legacies of renowned scholars who worked in these regions, including Imam al-Tirmidhi, Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Darimi, Abu al-Layth al-Samarqandi, and others.
The interactive map has been developed using modern technologies. By selecting specific regions on the screen, visitors will be able to access audio and video materials, photographs, and historical documents related to the local schools of hadith studies.
