The unique project of the Center's library: comfort, technology, and cultural identity.
A discussion took place at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan regarding the interior, design, and technical equipment of the library within the framework of the megaproject. At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Research Department, Gulnora Ganieva, gave the necessary instructions to the members of the working group regarding the ongoing processes.
The Director of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, Umida Teshaboyeva, made a presentation on the work being done on the interior design, layout, and placement of technical equipment in the future library of the Center.
— In the library of the Center, the experience of the Netherlands in library science will be widely and effectively utilized. Modern technologies used in libraries of that country are planned to be integrated in order to create comfortable conditions for readers. Among these are telephone booths, audiovisual rooms, and halls for copying and scanning books. It is noteworthy that visitors will be able to use the equipment independently. Moreover, there will be a coworking center, halls for scholars, and special rooms for children. It is expected that the technical equipment of the library will be unique for the entire Central Asian region,* said Umida Teshaboyeva. According to the presentation, the library of the Center will consist of two floors. Its design will reflect national identity, harmoniously combining elements of modernity. It was also reported that three new projects have been added to the 15 media projects planned for the first stage. During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held on printing and sorting books written in Braille font, as well as approaches to creating their audio versions.
For reference: It is planned that the library of the Center will be able to serve more than 200 readers at the same time.
It is worth noting that, by the order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as part of the megaproject for the creation of the Center for Islamic Civilization, a broad representation of our ancestors' contribution to world civilization, the upbringing of youth in the spirit of devotion to this great historical heritage, the organization of scientific discussions, debates, the promotion of relevant ideas and discoveries, as well as the creation of new scientific content, are foreseen. To achieve this, more than 2,000 local and foreign scientists and specialists have been involved in the project. A total of more than 800 projects have been developed, and their implementation is planned in three stages. Currently, the first stage has begun, and active work is underway on over 400 projects in collaboration with members of the Scientific Council.
