The activities of the Turkestan Autonomy will be widely highlighted in the exhibition at the Center of Islamic Civilization.
At the initiative of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, an important media project titled "Turkestan Autonomy" is planned, aimed at restoring historical and spiritual heritage and strengthening the idea of national statehood.
The main objective of the project is to convey the historical significance of the Turkestan Autonomy to the general public, deeply study the history of national statehood, and foster a sense of national pride among the younger generation. This period, which was not recognized as historical truth during the Soviet era and subjected to repression, is one of the most crucial chapters in the history of Uzbek statehood. Recognizing its significance and restoring historical justice is one of today's pressing tasks.
The Turkestan Autonomy was established on November 27, 1917, in the city of Kokand and, despite lasting only 72 days, it became an important step towards building national statehood.
Among the founders of the autonomy were outstanding and enlightened sons of the peoples of Turkestan — Mustafa Chokay, Mahmudkhoja Behbudi, Munavvar Kari Abdurashidkhonov, Ubaydullohkhodja Asadullohkhodjaev, Muhammadjon Tinishbaev, and Islam Sultan Shoakhmedov. They selflessly fought for the enlightenment of the people, the revival of national statehood, and the path to modern progress.
The project will be implemented in stages. The first stage will focus on revealing the role of the Turkestan Autonomy in the history of Uzbek statehood. As part of this stage, a documentary film will be prepared based on historical facts, analytical materials, interviews, articles, and visual materials. With its help, the general public will be able to better understand the political, social, and cultural significance of the Turkestan Autonomy.
