Expedition News: The finest exhibits from museums across Uzbekistan have been selected for the Center of Islamic Civilization.
In Uzbekistan, a scientific expedition team conducted work to select artifacts from the museum collections of Bukhara, the Navoi region, Kharezm, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan for the Center of Islamic Civilization exhibition.
The first working group of the scientific expedition carried out research aimed at enriching and enhancing the exhibition of the Center by studying the displays and collections of museums such as the State Museum-Reserves “Bukhara” and “Ichan-Kala,” the State Museum of History and Culture of the Navoi Region, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Uzbekistan, the State Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the State Museum of Fine Arts named after I.V. Savitsky of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and the Berdak State Museum of the History of Karakalpak Literature. The team studied museum items and collections, as well as cultural heritage and archaeological objects related to historical events in the lives of people, the development of society and the state, and the activities of prominent figures, including statesmen, political and public leaders, thinkers, scholars, writers, and artists.
Approximately 200 unique museum items were selected from the collection of the Bukhara State Museum-Reserve, including those exhibited in its branch.
From the collection of the State Museum of History and Culture of the Navoi Region, 76 unique items were selected, which are also displayed in its branch.
From the collection of the “Ichan-Kala” State Museum-Reserve, 73 items currently exhibited in its departments were selected. From the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Uzbekistan, 14 items were selected.
From the collection of the State Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 432 unique museum items were selected, also represented in its branches. Additionally, 5 items were chosen from the collection of the I.V. Savitsky State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and 4 items from the Berdak State Museum of the History of Karakalpak Literature, all of which align with the concept of the Center’s exhibition.
To enhance the promotion of the Center’s exhibition, it was proposed to prepare replicas (models) of unique archaeological and ethnographic items displayed in museum departments for transfer to the Center.
These activities contribute to enriching the exhibition of the Museum of the Center of Islamic Civilization and to a deeper and more comprehensive presentation of its content and significance.
