Cooperation with the United Kingdom: Uzbek scholars will participate in the “Atlas of the Islamic World” project.
A delegation led by Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, arrived in the United Kingdom on an official visit.
The first meeting of the delegation’s representatives took place in Oxford, located 50 kilometers from London. Farhan Nizami, Director of the Oxford Centre of Islamic Studies, is a strategic partner of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. In October 2024, he participated in the International Cultural Heritage Week held in Tashkent and became acquainted with the Center’s activities.
In December 2024, during a visit by the Center’s delegation to the UK, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Oxford Centre of Islamic Studies.
At the current meeting, the possibility of expanding cooperation within the framework of this memorandum was discussed, particularly the participation of Uzbek specialists in the “Atlas of the Islamic World” project, implemented by the Oxford Centre of Islamic Studies.
“This project covers the history of the Islamic world, which unites around two billion people, and the contribution of Islamic scholars to science, culture, and the values of our peoples. We have many joint plans. Scholars born on Uzbek soil made a significant contribution to world civilization. The section of the project dedicated to Uzbekistan will present this rich spiritual heritage on the international stage,” noted Farhan Nizami.
As part of the project, a delegation of Uzbek historians and orientalists has been invited to Oxford in May of this year for joint work.
