The life and work of Behbudi will be featured in an interactive project

By decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, this year marks the wide-scale celebration of the 150th anniversary of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi — the founder of the Turkestan Jadidist movement, a distinguished writer, public figure, publisher, and educator.

What is being done at the Center of Islamic Civilization in relation to this prominent advocate of global cultural enlightenment?

The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is preparing to launch an interactive media project titled “Mahmudkhoja Behbudi and the Jadid New Method School.”

Within the framework of this project, a comprehensive study will be conducted on Behbudi’s intellectual and educational activities, the innovative school system he introduced, and his pivotal role in the development of national science and culture. A specialized scholarly and creative team will be formed to prepare video materials, digital media content, and a curated display of Behbudi’s personal belongings, drawing from archival records and historical sources. These materials will be made accessible to a wide audience through the Center’s exhibition.

The primary goal of the project is to vividly showcase and further disseminate the immortal historical legacy of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi alongside the broader contributions of the Jadidist movement.
