Results of the regional expedition: 48 artifacts have been selected for the Center of Islamic Civilization
As part of the effort to enrich the exhibition at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan with historical items, the third scientific expedition visited the Museum-Reserve of the Kokand Khanate and its branches. The members of the expedition studied the exhibits stored in the museum's collection and selected the artifacts needed for the Center.
The Museum-Reserve of the Kokand Khanate currently houses 48,276 exhibits, of which 2,246 require restoration. The museum includes 11 branches, five of which are equipped with permanent exhibitions. Specifically, the Orda Khudoyarkhan Museum holds 1,285 exhibits, the Museum of Great Scholars has 817, the Museum of Applied Arts contains 344, the Mukhimi Museum features 338, and the Hamza Museum-Estate has 301 exhibits.
For the exhibitions at the Center of Islamic Civilization, dedicated to “Pre-Islamic Civilizations” and “The Era of Uzbek Khanates”, 48 items were selected from the collections of this museum. The selection process was organized in collaboration with the chief curator of the Museum-Reserve of the Kokand Khanate, A. Yakhyaev.
During the expedition, the historical context, condition, exhibition value, and presentation possibilities of the artifacts were fully analyzed. Based on this, items were selected to be added to the exhibition at the Center of Islamic Civilization.
