Media Project "Speaking History": The Foundation of Uzbek National Press by the Jadids

The rich cultural heritage of the Uzbek people, traditions of enlightenment, and the early steps in the field of journalism are now seen not only as historical memory but also as a strong foundation for modern development. In this regard, the Center of Islamic Civilization plans to implement a new media project titled "The Foundation of Uzbek National Press by the Jadids (1906–1918)."

The first phase of the project will focus on the history of the Jadid press. This period stands out for the formation of the Uzbek national press, the spread of ideas of social awakening, and the initial steps toward the enlightenment of the people. During this stage, a special video film based on historical sources will be prepared and included in the exhibition at the Center of Islamic Civilization.

The film will provide a detailed examination of the activities of newspapers such as “Taraqqi,” “Shuhrat,” “Hurriyat,” “Sadoi Turkiston,” “Sadoi Fergana” from 1906 to 1918, their ideological direction, educational and political significance, as well as the efforts of Jadid intellectuals to awaken the people through the press. The film will incorporate modern technologies, historical photographs, archival documents, and expert commentary, providing a rich visual and informational resource.
