"Oman Observer": The Center of Islamic Civilisation in Uzbekistan — a monument to heritage and knowledge
The Omani publication "Oman Observer" published an article about the Center of Islamic Civilization being constructed on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan. The article provides detailed information about the historical significance, architectural features, and future functions of the center.
The architectural design of the center was developed by renowned architect Abduqahhor Turdiyev. It occupies an area of 7.5 hectares and includes a three-story building covering 42,000 square meters. The central dome of the building stands 65 meters tall, adding a unique beauty to the Tashkent cityscape. The entrance doors are adorned with Quranic verses and hadiths, promoting values such as knowledge, tolerance, and respect for parents. The main entrance is designed to resemble the portal of the Ulugbek Madrasah in Registan Square, Samarkand.
Among the main objectives of the Center are studying and preserving the immense contributions of scholars and thinkers to science, culture, and education in the Islamic world; promoting humanism, respect for national history, and tolerance among youth; as well as fostering intercultural and interfaith dialogue. The center is planned to operate in collaboration with international organizations.
