An invaluable gift from the Sam Fogg Gallery: The Center for Islamic Civilization enriched with historical treasures!

At the prestigious international forum “The Legacy of the Great Past — the Basis of an Enlightened Future” held in Tashkent, the Center for Islamic Civilization was further enriched with unique artifacts.
The SAM FOGG Gallery presented the Center’s collection with a remarkable piece of Timurid sculpture and applied art — a carved bronze bowl created in Iran between 1450 and 1500. In addition, a steel plaque produced in Bukhara or Samarkand at the end of the 14th century was also added to the exhibition.

Another valuable addition was an early 20th-century silk robe adorned with metallic threads. Sewn using a special patchwork technique, this rare masterpiece measures 127 cm in length, 92 cm in chest circumference, and has sleeves extending 164 cm.
These artifacts not only enriched the exhibition dedicated to cultural heritage but also allowed visitors to vividly experience the atmosphere of the medieval past.
It should be recalled that on September 26–27 this year, the Center for Islamic Civilization hosted a prestigious international forum attended by more than 100 experts from over 20 countries. Representatives of renowned organizations such as IRCICA, ICESCO, TURKSOY, the World Islamic League, Oxford University, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Christie’s contributed with lectures and proposals.
At the forum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiatives to preserve the true humanistic essence of Islam and to promote intercultural dialogue received high recognition at the international level.
Within the framework of the forum, 10 thematic panel sessions were held at the Center, covering the Qur’an Hall, pre-Islamic civilizations, scientific progress, the Renaissance legacy, museum and library work, digitization, and issues of international cooperation.
